Why Should You Use Lash Serum?

So, beauty salons are closed for the foreseeable future and our favourite treatments haven’t been done in months. While there is nothing quite like visiting your local beautician and getting pampered, there are other ways we can treat ourselves during lockdown and look after our natural beauty. One of the most popular products of this year is eyelash serum and we’re going to tell you why you should be trying it out.

What Is Lash Serum?

Eyelash serum is an innovative new product that encourages healthy growth of eyelashes. There are hundreds of different serums on the market so do your research before committing to one.

It needs to be applied carefully to your lashes twice a day, on clean, dry lashes. Once it’s dry, you can still wear makeup but while we’re in lockdown, it’s advised to skip mascara to allow your lashes the best chance to work alongside the lash serum and its magic.

Reasons To Use Lash Serum

It Boosts Keratin

Keratin is a natural protein produced in your hair, nails and skin, including your lashes. Lash serum promotes the production of this and encourages faster and healthier growth while also strengthening any gaps you may have in your follicles.

On average, you have 150 lashes on each upper lid and each of these lashes takes three months to grow on its own. Lash serum speeds this growth process up while also strengthening them.

So essentially, lash serum will give you longer lashes faster than your natural lash cycle typically allows.

Gives Moisture

You probably already use moisturising treatments for your hair and skin, why should your lashes be any different? You may not realise it but eyelashes can lose moisture easily, especially if you wear makeup frequently, and this needs to be addressed.

Not only can dry, brittle lashes look bad, but it can also cause irritation, dandruff, pain and make those eyes look puffy and contribute to bags.

Lash serum gives that much-needed moisture to smooth and nourish lashes and the hair follicles. This aids in healthy growth, stops irritation and can even repair your current lashes.

Helps Lash Retention

If your natural lashes are prone to falling out or aren’t as thick as you’d like, lash serum is the product for you. By caring for the follicle, lashes will grow stronger and longer, giving the appearance of fuller, thicker lashes.

This isn’t just a bonus for those who have neglected their lash health over the years, for many people suffering from hair loss, such as hypotrichosis or alopecia, lash serums can be a saviour for retaining those last few lashes and giving them their best chance at healthy growth and even encourage new growth.

As lashes will appear thicker and darker, it provides a quick and easy way for natural-looking, healthy fans.

It’s For Eyebrows Too

Lash serum can even be used on eyebrows, thicker, healthy eyebrows have been in fashion for years and have no sign of going out of fashion anytime soon.

We aren’t all blessed with these brows and for those with thick or very light brows, lash serum can be made more prominent with the regular use of lash serums.

It’s The Next Best Thing

If you’re a lover of lash lifts or lash extensions, lash serums are the next best thing. With salons closed, this is the perfect opportunity to get those natural lashes in the best shape possible.

You can achieve fabulous lashes at home and when salons finally do reopen, your lashes will be healthy and ready for their next treatment. Serums can even enhance these treatments as the healthier the natural lash is, the better the results from beauty treatments.

Things To Look Out For When Buying Lash Serum

Hormones

As we’ve already mentioned, there are tonnes of lash serums on the market and it can easily become confusing as to which is the best for you.

The most important thing to look out for is if the product uses hormones. While it may seem like a great idea, boosting growth with hormones, this can actually do more harm than good. They interfere too drastically with the natural lash cycle and will lead to lashes growing hollowing and falling out as soon as you stop using the product.

Serums such as eyelash wizard serum don’t use hormones, while the results take a tiny bit longer to appear, it means that your lashes remain healthy, even when you stop using it. What’s more, the more natural the product is, the less likely you are to have an adverse reaction to it.

Brushes

Serums tend to come with two forms of brush, the mascara like wand or the long, thin eyeliner style brush.  There is no ‘better’ brush, it’s all down to personal preference. If you are a novice, we suggest the mascara wand, most of us have used these before and have an idea of how to use them.

The more advanced may want to try the thin brush, this allows more accuracy on the lash line but comes with the added risk of getting the serum in your eye.
