Top Hair Care Tips

Keeping soft and healthy hair does not have to be difficult. There are so many easy things you can do to keep your locks long and luscious. Here are some of the top hair care tips you can follow.

Apply Oils

Coconut oil or rose oil for hair provides hydration to your dry ends to keep your hair looking great. They help to thicken out the hair by strengthening the roots. Both oils contain essential nutrients such as vitamins and fatty acids to boost growth and give your hair that ever-lasting glow.

Focus on Nutrition

There are a number of essential nutrients that you need to be consuming to keep your hair as healthy as possible. The most important nutrients are protein, iron, omega fatty acids, and vitamins A, C, and E. Your hair cells are some of the fastest-growing cells in your body, so you need to stay on top of your diet consistently to experience the benefits.

Protein is the macronutrient that your hair is made out of, more specifically collagen and keratin. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids can aid growth and add volume. Iron is important to carry oxygen to your hair cells so they can grow, and vitamins aid this growth.

Keep your diet in check to ensure you’re consuming sufficient amounts of each of the above.

Regularly Deep Condition

Even if you apply conditioner when you wash your hair in the shower, set aside some time every week or two to do a deep condition. After washing your hair with shampoo, pat it dry with a towel, and add a decent amount of conditioner to your roots. Run the conditioner down to your ends so it covers everywhere. Leave it in for at least 15 minutes (ideally, a little longer if you’ve got the time). Your hair will feel super soft and full of life after a good deep condition!

Avoid Excessive Bleaching

Try to avoid using hair colourant whenever possible. Bleach can damage the hair, leaving it dry and brittle. If you do want to change the colour of your hair, make sure to deep condition immediately after. You may also want to check out some natural remedies that can lighten your hair, such as chamomile tea or lemon.

Reduce Heat

Heat such as hairdryers and straighteners can cause serious damage to your hair. Not only does it cause breakages, but it also leaves your hair feeling dry.

If you do need to use heat, make sure to apply protecting spray or serum beforehand to reduce the risks of damage to your locks.

Avoid Tight Buns

When you tie your hair up in a tight pony or bun, it can place unnecessary strain on your hair, causing breakages or hair loss. Let your hair down every few days to give your locks a break. For the days where you do tie your hair up, use a soft scrunchie instead of a tight band.
